Free API for .edu and .gov. One requirement: cite us.

Mirrors the WRDS / ResDAC / AHRQ HCUP pattern. Fonteum grants free researcher access in exchange for the standard academic citation. 300 req/min, 10,000 req/day. Sign up with your institutional email.

Must be a .edu or .gov address (or non-US academic TLD: .ac.uk, .ac.jp, .edu.au, etc.).

Helps us understand which datasets matter most. Not validated server-side; not gating signup.

After submitting: we email you a one-shot activation link (24h expiry). Click the link to activate your API key. The plaintext key is shown ONCE on the success page after submit — copy it then. Lost keys can’t be recovered, only re-issued.
